A Double Whammy on Trump
Matt Seinberg

Trump Mentor Roy Cohen, left; convicted mob bosses Carlo Gambino, top, John Gotti, bottom.

This past week, president 45 had a double whammy hit him when former campaign manager Paul Manafort was convicted on eight counts of financial crimes stemming from special prosecutor Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 election.

The second shoe drops.

Moments later, his former personal attorney Michael Cohen pleads guilty on eight charges, including two that involved Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal being paid off to keep quiet about their affairs with 45. Cohen says 45 directed and coordinated the payments, which makes him an unindicted co-conspirator to in an effort to bypass campaign finance laws.

The trail of Paul Manafort, once the manager of the Trump for President Campaign, revealed that Trump likes to surround himself with deeply dug in criminals. Michael Cohen, as a Trump capo, revealed how Trump sees himself as a mob boss, such as Carlo Gambino or John Gotti. Trump, himself, reveals the influence of his mentor, Roy Cohen, as he tries to protect himself: deny, deflect and defend; attack, attack, attack; yell louder, cruder and more violently.

The silence of other Republicans defending the president is deafening. I can only imagine how many members of Congress must be shaking in their shoes. They know many of them have done the same thing as the president has.

What Washington, DC, power broker hasn't had some sort of sordid affair, just because he wanted to? How many lobbyists, interns and office workers are there with their own stories to tell about affairs with senators and representatives? Politics is loaded with victims.

Jimmy Carter once admitted in a Playboy interview that he "lusted in his heart." That didn't mean he had sex with every available woman that came his way. He was too happy in his marriage for that to happen.

John Kennedy had an affair with Marilyn Monroe and plenty of other women while he was President. Of course, Jackie knew, but she was living the high life and didn't want to give that up. Trade-offs abound.

Numerous women accused Bill Clinton of sexual harassment and unwanted advances while he was the governor of Arkansas. Gennifer Flowers came forward after he became President and that was news for a while, but soon went away. Then the Monica Lewinsky affair hit the headlines and the media went wild. To this day, just mention her name, and people think of her sperm stained dress.

Did Hillary, like the Senate, acquit Bill?

The House Representatives impeached Clinton, but the Senate acquitted him; he served out his second term as president. His marriage, to Hillary, continued, too, despite rumours he had to learn to dodge flying objects randomly sent in his direction. I still don't understand how they are still married. Convenience makes for strange bedfellows.

Every day, something new about president 45 happens. His bizarre tweets, two-faced statements and numerous affairs just keep on coming, just like a bad case of foot fungus. The man is self-destructive.

How can we elect a president that was caught on video saying that "he grabbed women by the pussy, because of who I am." That is surely a telltale sign of a bully and abuser. Is this who we want to lead the greatest nation on earth?

The popular vote said no, by roughly three million, but the Electoral College (EC) said yes. There is something defiantly wrong with our election system. The EC may require adjustment, if not elimination.

Senator John McCain passed away, today, 25 August 2018. Instead of including a picture of McCain in his condolence tweet, 45 put in his own picture. This man is such an egotistical megalomaniac that he always thinks of himself, first, and anyone else last. A few days before his passing, the Senator made it clear he did not want Trump at his funeral; Obama and Bush 45 will eulogise him.

Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen may find themselves in jail, shortly. This most likely for Manafort; Cohen is a wait to see. Will Trump pardon them? Will he ignore them? Would he let them serve their sentences in a country club prison? The blowback on pardons would certainly call for impeachment, especially if the Democrats take back the House in the 2018 mid-term elections.

I simply don't understand why impeachment of Trump hasn't started. Well, yes, I do know. The Republicans control the House and Trump has scared them silent.

Can Trump see the warning signs?

If the Democrats are afraid of blow back before the mid-term elections, let them wait and hope that they can win back control of Congress. Then they will have the majority to force impeachment hearings or, hopefully, Trump will finally recognize the warning signs and slither out Washington, like the snake he is. Don’t hold your breath for a resignation.
