Hot Cars in Summer
Matt Seinberg

We've all read recently about the rash of stupid people leaving kids and pets in parked cars "just to run an errand." Are they out of their friggin' minds? Think about how hot your car is in the summer in the morning when you have to go to school, work or do other stuff.

It’s terribly hot!

Even with a sun shade in the windshield, my car is hot in the morning before I go to work. I leave the sun shade in place all day as well and it's hot when I get out of work. Just imagine how hot it must be sitting in parking lot with no shade trees, or a sunshade in the window.

Grown adults can barely handle sitting in a hot car without putting the air conditioning on, so can you imagine how a helpless young child or pet must feel?

When my kids were little, I always took them out of the car, no matter how long I was going to be in a store, be it a couple of minutes or an hour. It is simply not safe to leave anyone or anything in a parked car, no matter what time of the year.

What brain cells are these idiots missing that govern common sense? Do they think it okay to leave a pet in the car, with a window cracked open? There still is not enough air circulation to keep the temperature down and they certainly didn't leave any food or water, either.

Last week a woman dumped her dog out of the car.

If they truly loved and cared for these animals, they wouldn't take them out of the house at all on such hot days.

Last week a woman dumped her dog out of the car, as she was filling her vehicle with gas. The dog ran around the car to get it's owners attention. It even chased the car after it left the gas station! Luckily, the event was recorded on the security cameras; the police quickly caught up with her and placed her under arrest.

Then there's the case of the father who "forgot" to drop his 22-month-old son off at daycare and "forgot" the toddler what still strapped in his car seat in the back of his SUV. The father went to work. Seven hours later, the child waas discovered, by his daddy, dead, in the car. How could this moron "forget" his son was in the backseat? Didn't he see him in the rear view mirror or hear him making any noises?

The perfect punishment.

I think the perfect punishment for these idiots is simple. For however long they left their child or pet in the vehicle for, they should be locked in that same vehicle for twice the amount of time, supervised by law enforcement and medical personnel.

If the parent survives that ordeal, throw them in jail for the appropriate amount of time. If the child or pet survives, the charge isn’t murder, but child endangerment. If death occurs, charge them with murder, lock them up and throw away the key. Jail will take care of their sorry asses. It will be interesting to see how long they actually last in jail.

Any parent should be outraged when they hear stories like this. Keep a watchful eye out for any kids or pets left in park vehicles during the summer. Call 911, immediately, if you see anything, don't take the chance that someone "may" come out shortly.

The life you save will be the one of an innocent child or pet.
