Agent for Orange

Cesar Sayoc van, with pro-Trump sticks and photos of intended victims.

Dumb Donald has said and done many things to anger me over the years. Just recently, Trump really took the cake. I mean, I know the man is low, but he’s truly lowered himself to a level I didn’t think possible for any human to reach.

Consider the postal bomb targets.

Bombs recently mailed to Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and a dozen other people as well as the Cable News Network (CNN). All of these targets had one overriding feature in common: Trump had declared the recipient as an enemy. Thus, it came as no surprise the bomber was a hard-core right wing Trump supporter, Cesar Sayoc.

It’s also no surprise that some conspiracy nut jobs are saying the bombs involve a false flag operation; that democrats essentially planned and funded the whole thing to ruin Republican changes in the mid-term elections next week. I’m not surprised that Trump does not accept one ounce of responsibility for the incident. He’d rather blame George Soros, for example, for funding everything he doesn’t like in America.

After all, when has Trump ever admitted to doing anything wrong, to ever making a mistake? How many people are that infallible? Ah, none, which is yet another thing we should keep in mind.

Finally, for now, I’m not the least bit surprised that Trump and his minions are blaming everyone else: the democrats, George Soros and the media most especially. Once again, this is standard operating procedure for them: false equivalency. As if urging people to confront or even harass politicians and members of the media and the administration is the same as calling for outright violence.

Now, keep in mind, I don’t agree with that method of dealing with opponents either. As far as I’m concerned, we should engage in civil debate. No, what surprises me is people continue to let them get away with it.

It’s a crime

What make me see red are people acting as if Trump has been the very soul of propriety. To see him or one of his republican lapdogs stand at a microphone and dare to suggest everyone needs to tone down the rhetoric is more than just a joke, more than merely an insult to my intelligence. It is an outright crime in, my eyes.

Never in American history have we had a president more divisive, more dedicated to tearing our nation apart, sowing the seeds of hate and more devoted to himself and his own pleasures and enrichment. To any little Trumpsters that are thinking of chiding me for my harsh words, my advice to you is this: don’t, do not go there for one second. Do not even attempt to suggest I’m and those that think as I do, are part of the problem.

I invite Trump supporters to perform a simple scientific experiment. Yes, I know, for them, science bad. Science is evil. Science is the work of the devil and the democrats. Still, let’s ignore that idea for one moment and simply do the following.

First, read my previous columns and take note of the number of times I’ve called for violence against anyone who opposes me. Two, go online, pick a search engine and do a search for videos where Trump has called for violence. Next, compare the two results. You might want to email me with the results, which is okay. I’ll post them just as soon as I get a good number of replies to insure an unbiased analysis.

Spoiler alert: his number will be huge. I should know, I did the search and got more than two dozen relevant search engine results (SERPS) in under a minute. In fact, I’ve seen compilations posted on YouTube by people who have done the same.

Thus, I’m sorry, but don’t think or say that Fearless Leader is not the source of this climate of hate. Also, don’t fall back on the old cliché of saying all he did was voice these ideas, he didn’t act on them, someone else did and therefore he’s free of all responsibility for these heinous acts. No, there is one tiny other detail to consider and here it is: he’s the President of the United States.

None spouted the hate that Trump has.

Look back over the course of the more than two centuries of our nation’s history. Look at words spoken by every man who has led our country. Has there ever been a man who spouted more hate, more venom, more words designed to destroy and rend rather than unite, console and heal? Remember, as ye sow, so shall ye reap.

Combining the gimlet-eye, of Philip Roth, with the precisive mind of Lionel Trilling, AJ Robinson writes about what goes bump in the mind, of 21st century adults. Raised in Boston, with summers on Martha's Vineyard, AJ now lives in Florida. Most of the time he writes, but sometimes he works at Disney World to renew his fantasies and get a few dollars more. AJ writes, with insight and passion, about his family and his dog. His liberal, note the small "l," sensibilities often lead to bouts of righteous indignation, well focused and true.
